Advent and Christmas Season Events
Alternative Christmas Fair – begun as an alternative to the commercialization of Christmas, the fair offers people opportunity to donate to various charitable causes in the names of those you wish to gift. Certificates are given to donors signifying their gift on behalf of another. The Fair occurs on the first weekend of December. There is also a Children’s fair with fun, food and games for the younger kids, held at the same time as the Alternative Christmas Fair.
Hanging of the Greens – to decorate the church sanctuary with greenery and occurs on the first Saturday of December after lunch.
Christmas Play and Brunch – The UBBC children lead worship with an annual Christmas play highlighting the Christmas story. Usually held on the third Sunday in December this worship is followed by a Christmas brunch where all are invited to bring a finger food appetizer of favorite Christmas treat to share.
Christmas Eve Services – gather at 4 PM for a children friendly service. The Christmas story is shared, carols sung, and children participate! The Candlelight Service begins at 7 PM, features the Sanctuary Choir and is a service of carols, retelling the story and celebrating the birth of the Christ Child.
Maundy Thursday Love Feast – fellowship meal, hymn singing, foot washing or hand washing, and communion is a time of introspection and preparation for the events leading to Easter.
Easter Sunday – worship at 9:30 AM followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for children.
Dinner Club – Early in the new year congregation members get together and take turns hosting dinners. Participants are invited to bring one item to the dinner – main course, salad/vegetable, bread, or dessert. And of course, great conversation for the evening out.
Outdoor Worship and Chicken Barbeque – Occurs in early June at Camp Blue Diamond. The worship service is held on benches by lake, followed by lunch and lots of time for visiting, swimming, canoeing, hiking and outdoor recreation.
All Church Picnic – occurs in early September at a local park with many activities for the kids and youth and, of course, lots of food!
