Whenever You Do This, 1 Cor 11:23-26
In our Baptist and Brethren traditions we do not treat Communion sacramentally. To put this in other words, we do not believe there is anything sacred about the physical elements we share, instead we believe that it is the moment that is sacred; it is the “gathering in remembrance” that renders the moment sacred for us. The real miracle is that there is something more in Communion than meets the eye … there is always something else that happens when we share Communion. Every time we break the bread and share the cup a sacred moment opens, and we are invited into an encounter with the divine.
