At the Spring Business Meeting on Sunday, April 19, 2015, UBBC officially approved specifically adding the terminology “gender identity and expression” to our Statement of Mission and Welcome.
Sexuality and Faith Committee (SAF) chairperson Neill Johnson reviewed the year-long educational offerings the SAF Committee facilitated for the congregation. The review included responses and reasons to move forward that were received from a congregational survey.
Here is our new statement:
Statement of Mission and Welcome
Woven Together in love,
We seek like Jesus to serve God’s world
Justly,
Simply,
Compassionately.
Believing that God’s unbounded love and grace are offered to all and meant to be shared and celebrated by all, we embrace persons of every age, race, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ethnic and religious background, and economic means as vital and integral members of God’s family.
We welcome EVERYONE to participate in all aspects of the worship, membership and life of our church.
