Pastor Bonnie will continue with our Lenten series on Entering the Passion of Jesus. This week’s sermon, The First Dinner: Risking Rejection, uses Mark 14:3-7 (with references to Mark 14:3-9, Matthew 26:6-13, John 12:1-8). Here, Jesus and his followers gather for a meal, when a woman shows up unexpectedly to anoint Jesus in an extravagant show of devotion. To say she caused quite a “stir” might be understating it a bit. Let’s imagine ourselves being there…what would our reactions be?
University Baptist & Brethren Church has established itself as a dynamic and progressive congregation since the April day in 1922 when a small group of people gathered to organize a Baptist Church in State College. The congregation — forty charter members — met in private homes and on campus until the first church building was dedicated in 1928.
