At UBBC putting our faith into action is important. We try to continue the work of Jesus by “walking the walk”. Opportunities for service are a part of our life together. Through service we find ways to demonstrate our love for God and neighbor.

Sanctuary Choir

Our choir sings in weekly worship services from September through May. Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings before worship. Previous experience is helpful, but membership is open to all and attendance policies are quite flexible.

Sharing and Prayer Circle

Wednesday Prayer Group.png

Do you need a small group of friends to share about your life, or faith, or what's happening in the world? The Sharing and Prayer Circle meets weekly on Wednesdays via Zoom. We begin with a brief devotional thought shared by one of the group, followed by personal sharing and a closing thought or prayer.

Thursday Night Dinners

Dinners are held in the Fellowship Hall on the first and third Thursday of every month during the school year, and weekly (as hosts are available) in private homes during the summer.  These suppers are a time for people to connect and get to know one another while sharing a great meal!

Prayer Shawl Group

Knitting Prayer Shawls.jpg

Calling all folks who knit, crochet, or do other handcrafts to meet monthly for fellowship and service to others. Prayer shawls, lap robes, and scarves are made for persons in times of grief, sickness, and celebration. The crafters of these gifts weave their prayers of love and healing into each creation. The group meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month, September through May.

Crop Walk

CROP Hunger Walks are community-based walk fundraising events held in cities and towns across the United States.  The walks support the global mission of Church World Service, a faith-based organization transforming communities around the globe through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, displacement and disaster.

The Alternative Christmas Fair has for over 40 years given local, national, and international charities the opportunity to raise funds in a group setting. In that time we have raised awareness about the work of local non-profits and non-commercial ways to honor the birth of Christ, not to mention almost $1,000,000 in donations! Candelght Vigil for Peace

Prayer for Peace.jpg

Join us as we express our communal longing for an end to violence everywhere. Candles or other lights are welcome. Please leave signs and flags at home and simply bring your prayerful presence.  We meet at the Allen Street Gates every Monday from 5 to 5:30 pm.

Coalition for Outdoor Rec at CCCF

Centre County Correctional Facility_edit

UBBC is part of a community coalition working to bring outdoor recreation to the Centre County Correctional Facility.  Despite a PA code mandating 2 hours of outdoor rec daily, CCCF currently has none.  Coalition members meet monthly, attend Prison Board meetings, and work to mobilize public opinion.  Learn more here.

Centre County Interfaith Coalition for Gun Safety

Interfaith Coalition for Gun Safety.jpg

An alliance of local religious leaders and community members committed to building a peaceful society free from preventable gun violence. We educate on issues related to gun violence, advocate for responsible and safe gun ownership, and unite with local, state, and federal officials on matters of gun safety that benefit the whole community.  Learn more here.

Gâ‚‚O

Gâ‚‚O or Generation 2 Generation Outings is a program that promotes intergenerational outdoor experiences to appreciate God’s creation. Through Gâ‚‚O, children, youth, and adults have opportunities to get better acquainted with the great outdoors and with each other, and to build mentoring relationships to last a lifetime.

Christmas Play

The Annunciation.jpg

Our children perform an annual Christmas play. Rehearsals are held for several weeks in the fall and culminate in a production during the worship service on the Sunday before Christmas.  All children and youth are welcome to participate.

UBBC Serves

Since 2021 the Board of Missions has published regular profiles highlighting members of our congregation and the ways they serve, as a means of knowing one another better and learning more about service opportunities.  We hope these profiles will help us all seek to serve God’s world with the many gifts we have been given.  You can access these profiles here.
