Losing My Religion, Psalm 145:8-21, Matthew 5:1-16
Ben Wideman, Guest Preacher
Our religious traditions can be guiding and helpful, but also toxic and exclusionary. As we draw closer to a boundless God of grace and mercy, perhaps we might be called to lose parts of our religion. Drawing on my experience as a campus pastor at Penn State, I will talk about some of my own messy religious upbringing, toxic experiences of faith in the college students I work with, and how we might re-imagine what it means to be a person of faith in a shifting religious context.
