Life at UBBC

Worship

Worship

Worship is the heart of UBBC. Worship connects us to God, to one another, and prepares us to go back into the world. We gather at 9:30 am each Sunday to seek God, to sing and pray, to share and listen, and wait for the Spirit moving among us. Progressive in theology, we lean toward being traditional in our worship.

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual growth happens throughout life for children, youth, and adults. We are intentional about Spiritual Formation at UBBC. We offer learning experiences that teach about the Bible, the mysteries of faith, the stories of Jesus, prayer, and putting our faith into action.

Music

Music

At UBBC we strive for music in worship to be "excellent and eclectic." You'll find everything from traditional, sacred choral music to folk hymns, and global music. Our Sanctuary is home to a Holtkamp pipe organ and Steinway Model M grand piano, and other instruments such as guitars, percussion and others can often be heard. Occasional Sunday evening Taizé services supplement Sunday morning worship.

Service

Service

At UBBC putting our faith into action is important. We try to continue the work of Jesus by “walking the talk”. Opportunities for service are a part of our life together. Through service we find ways to demonstrate our love for God and neighbor.

About Us

University Baptist & Brethren Church has established itself as a dynamic and progressive congregation since the April day in 1922 when a small group of people gathered to organize a Baptist Church in State College. The congregation — forty charter members — met in private homes and on campus until the first church building was dedicated in 1928.
