Dr. Christopher Kiver, Director
Christopher Kiver joined the UBBC staff in August 2005. He is the Director of Music here at UBBC and directs the Adult Choir, Handbells, Children’s Choir and Children’s and Youth Orchestra.
Based in Brisbane, Australia from 1996-2002, Christopher was Director of Music of the Brisbane Concert Choir and the Brisbane Chorale who appeared regularly with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. He served as Director of Vocal/Choral Activities at an independent school for boys, and taught voice and classroom music at elementary, middle and high school levels. Christopher also lectured in choral music at the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology.
He is a former Queensland State President of the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA) and served on the ANCA National Council. He was Convenor of the ANCA National Convention held in Brisbane in October 2002.
While in Ann Arbor, Christopher was Director of Music at First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor, an American Baptist Church.
Christopher has appeared as guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. He joined the Penn State faculty in 2005, and directs the Penn State Glee Club and the Chamber Singers. Christopher also teaches classes in choral conducting and choral literature at Penn State University.
Winner of Two Grammys
Chris Kiver won two prestigious Grammy Awards in February, 2006 for his work, while a doctoral student, as a choral director in an April 2004 recording of “Songs of Innocence and Experience.” He won in the Best Choral Performance and Best Classical Album categories.
Christopher is married and has 2 children. In his spare time Christopher enjoys watching English Soccer, his favorite team is Aston Villa.
